First Real Drive

I drove the SHO to work today for the first time since the new transmission was installed. I've driven it around town, but this was the first time to get it out on the interstate and be at speed for a while. My commute is about 30 miles or so, all interstate. So, got on the hwy and quickly got up to speed, 70, then took her on up to 75 and set the cruise control, working great!!!! I then decided, take it on up to 80-85 because I was getting passed. She was going along so well so, what the ****, punch it and I'm doing 100mph in a second, Lol!!! So I stayed at 100mph for a few miles and backed off, don't want fo get a ticket and have the wife scold me for acting like a kid, but damn that was so freaking fun!!!! I had forgotten just how fun this car is to drive!!!! It's so quick from say 70 to 100 and I was blowing by everyone!!! Anyhoo, I arrived at work and the SES light came on when I was getting on it and off and so on, so I scan it and the code was for a random multiple misfire, which I already knew it was misfiring, so I will be changing coils and plugs very soon, but damn it was great to fly down the interstate in the SHO again, such an awesome car. So, I guess I am a kid again and I see speeding tickets in the future, Lol!!!

Go ahead and spend the money that you believe you'll be losing to tickets on a detector instead. Also, some navigation apps often will alert you of speed traps (submitted by other drivers). I wish more people would use the hi beam flash to warn of speed traps like I do, but for some reason, I don't see much of that around here.

Yeah I've got an old ****** Passport 5000 that I hard wired into the car. It comes on when you turn the car on and I have it mounted above the rearview mirror.
And yes, people just don't seem to flash lights to warn about anything anymore, I still do that also.

I stopped going seriously fast on main roads decades ago, and now only do it on winding back country roads. Its more fun that way, and zero speeding tickets.

I had an experience recently where I was in the fast lane going up a hill. There was a car behind me and enough traffic I couldn't get over so I sped up. Surprisingly I couldn't pull away from the car behind me, and we are in the triple digits at this point. When I finally was able to get over to let it pass, I saw that it was a Tesla Model X. Yeah, not gonna best one of those...

I remember the ads saying that the SHO was the "Executive Express" meaning it was meant to be a highway cruiser to get you where you wanted to go fast and comfortably.

If bambi collisions are a big enough problem, you could always appeal to local bleeding heart government officials to install 8' chain link along ROW. This usually requires a few existing bridges of lesser travelled roads through which to direct wildlife (they learn pretty quickly how to "cross the street"). A substantial investment yes, but governments don't seem to get the concept of a "budget" anymore, so you have a fighting chance!

Out here in the sticks where I tend to run across deer on the back roads, there is pretty much zero chance that anyone will pay anything to try to keep deer off the road. Its just impractical. Might work in the city.

While I do agree, it may not be so for those who like to see their speedo needles point to anything above 110 mph.

There is that. But I do not do that often enough in the SHO for it to matter, really. Did anyone ever come up with a way to fix that? I recall a lot of discussion about it forever ago, but do not remember what the conclusions were.
