So I've had her for five days now.
Overall I'm pleased with the car. Power is excellent and I finally found a good driving position that I can see well enough from. Before I was comfy but couldn't see very well. The acoustic windshield and double pane front windows keep the car fairly quiet, especially in town, but I don't think its much quieter than my Five Hundred was going down the highway.
I love the Sync system, being able to dial and make calls with your phone in the console/pocket is great. Aux input for my Creative Zen Vision W MP3 Player is nice. Haven't tried out the USB yet. And I dont use/like ipods.
There is quite a bit of noise from the wheelwells, like when I drive over areas with sand or rocks, its very loud around there.
Fit and finish are much better than previous Fords, almost import like. I like the interior pretty good, but I see where Ford could have used some softer feel materials on the console edges like they did with the Dash pad and armrest. The Driver side defrost vent doesn't fit very well, theres large gaps around it, but fits great on the passenger side, but its better than what I've seen in the past. I notice between the door panel and the dash, the gap is larger than many gaps inside the car. Ford could do better.
The keyless entry pad illuminates if I'm washing the car and water runs down it. Which I think may be an issue if the cars parked in a rainstorm?
The passenger rear door is horrendously out of alignment, the trim shows the gap is off up to 1/4", but I'm going to leave it like that. Past experience is that once the dealer body shop starts messing with it, it's NEVER right after that. Either it looks fine but is noisy, or leaks water etc. Or it looks f'ed up and is watertight and quiet. I'm just going to deal with it.
Ford Accessory Rubber mats totally do not fit the holders on the factory carpet. And the OEM Taurus Mats look cheaply made. What happened to the rubber nibbing on the back? Carpet could have been better quality. I miss the days of the deeper cut pile carpeting.
Thats all to report for now!
More to come as I drive her.
