Ok now you got me thinking. I have the 17x8 wheels on my car now with 245 series tires. They REALLY stick out. I actually want to go even bigger, possibly 17x9"

Are you going to be doing rears as well?

So, in other words, I am interested in buying a set of them this summer if the molds are sold at a relatively reasonable price.

Yup, I am doing the rear and repainting the whole car. I currently have 18X8 on mine 245/40 and a 40mm offset, they rub on the wheel well slightly when i hit bumps hard. Plus it is dropped about 2 1/2 inches. If they stick out alot maybe your offset is not the correct one.

The new flares give me from 1 to 2 inches additional space. I will mesure exactly and post the info later.

The fenders will be available. The body shop was talking about having somebody come in to give a quote on making a mold of the whole fender once its done.

I have a 38MM offset. Its just the 245 series tires that make it close, they don't rub, but its damn close.

I am interested in a pair for the right price. Please let them know that.

With the talks of the disappering crease the other day, I've been looking at cars more closely while at stop lights and getting gas. I saw an M3 the other day and it had a disappering crease where the flare was on the front fender. It looked good. Follow the link, the pic is too big to post, but you can see what it looks like on the front fender.

Awsome job, I really like what you are doing with the fender flares. It needs to be done with a GEN I even more because we can barly fit 18's on ours.

Looks good so far. You must have quite alot of patience to do all that sanding and refilling. Can't wait to see it done.

Well here is the scoop...

I know some people have expressed thier interest in having a set of fenders with that kind of flares.

The body shop has found somebody that will make copies of the hole fender, so they will be replacement fenders for GEN 2 SHO's. Roughly these will run about 500 - 600 to get a set. THIS IS JUST AN "ESTIMATE," we are not sure out of what material they will be made.

If anybody is seriously interested please email me [email protected] or PM me. That way the body shop can talk to them and try to get a better deal. The more people the cheeper obviously.

Comments or questions are welcome.

What about the rear flares?

A mold of the rear can be made too but that would be just of the flare it self since you cant unbolt the rear Q/panel. So you would have to find somebody to install the rear flares for you.

For the front flares the hole fender will be provided just to bolt up in original location. Plus a mold for the bumper will be included to continue the fender flare to the front bumper. Again this has to be done by a local body shop or anybody qulified for that type of job.

I will post more pictures soon on the continuation of the flare to the front bumper... LOOKS AWESOME!

That's what I was hoping for gen I owners. I wonder if we could get the molds of both front and back flares only and get a professional body person to message them in? Might be a viable option for us?

The flares themselves should not be a problem since the body shop that is working on my car made them from the A6 fenders ... ofcourse, they will be in fiberglass unfinished form i think so it can be worked on. i guess that would be alot cheeper.

More picture updates ....

Keep us updated on the turnout of the fender flares. Looks like a great project.

Ahhh the wonders of tiger/kitty hair

Only thing I see wrong with that picture is how exposed your rims are to everything in the shop when my old SHO went in the body shop it always had covers clipped to the tires so the rims wouldn't get any overspray or dents/dings.

I was thinking the same thing, in the first pic shown of the fenders next to the car... May be a lot of work to get those rims to shine with no overspray. I love the look of the fender flares though! :thumb: :thumb:

I think he has them covered, in the earlier pictures the rims are covered up. Maybe he took the covers off for more bling factor!? ;) :burnout:

They are covered when its being worked on. The shop has little space to work with so the car has to be moved in and out, the covers are on when necessary only.

Im already looking for 19 inch rims for the car. Once its done i will be looking into sponsorship. Maybe i can make a good magazine in the near future.

This is what i liked so far to go with the paint job. Racing harts.
