OK heres the deal.I have all the exhaust off of my car at the present time except for the resonator and cats.I have dynmax mufflers(in the shed) that i took off.I was wondering the pros and cons (if any pros) of having the exhaust run with straight pipes with 2 chamber flows. Is this a good idea?Besides being loud.i KNOW WITHOUT THE CATS ILL GET O2 FAULTS.But i wanna try something different. Will i gain or loose h.p?

I'm almost positive you'll lose much HP with straight pipes. You need backpressure and straight pipes will eliminate any trace of back pressure. You'll have one loud annoying engine and loss of HP. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me for I'd love to learn more from my mistakes.

You lose low end torque when your remove the cats. The supposed trade-off is you gain slightly in the top rev range (the one you never drive in).
These cars need all the torque they can muster, as you do drive in that range.
Choice is yours.

plus they sound really raspy when driven without cats or mufflers.

imho, there are no advantages to doing this, and several significant disadvantages.

You won't lose hp if anything you will gain. Back-pressure takes away horse power. Considering back-pressure is "pushing" burnt exhaust gasses back into the cylender which cannot be reburned. Another thing to keep in mind is fuel mileage, with back-pressure you engine is working harder to try to compensate for the lack of power and uses more fuel.

Necro post much?

X2 on above, this guy has 4 posts total....listen to the guru's who have been there done that.... the internet is chock full of opinionated fools. Keep the cats on or it will be ricermania, and yes you need backpressure for maximizing low rpm torque.
