I recently had my 60K done, they changed the plugs wires all that stuff and cleaned the injectors and the maf. I noticed that there is a dark black dry coating on the bottom edge of the exhaust tips. I wiped it off when I got the car back from the mechanic, but after about two weeks it is back. Since it is getting colder here in NJ could it just be the rich running until it warms up that is causing it?

thats a sign that your car is running rich. clean the MAF sensor, and it should help. apparently it gets covered in the oil from K&N filters, but generally gets dirty. clean it off and it should help a bit.

just go and buy some electrical/nontouch cleaner spray. Give it a spritz and let it dry and your good to go!

It can also be condensation that made it all the way through the system. When I first start mine up and let it run for about 5 minutes and goose the throttle, there will be wet spots where my tips exit, but then again, I have a gen I so they are pointed to the ground. My new pipe that I fabricated is also getting alittle murky. Every car has condensation and that may be just what it is.
