if you pull this off, lemme know how it sounds, cuz my wife's muffler-delete mod is starting to get somewhat grating on the nerves.

I believe the third cat is a ****** entrance correct? I think a ****** adapter may be need to go directly to the muffler. Unless you want to remove the ****** completely.

I believe someone sells a straight pipe which replaces the cat and the flexpipe, but I can't remember where I saw it. It bolts to the stock ****** and is more or less straight pipe with handers attached. You could cut the straight pipe and clamp on the flowmaster depending on size. You using a flowmaster Super 44? 40 series? 50 series?

That's what I would personally do. Allows for the option to reattach all the stock stuff later. I haven't look at the exhaust in a while, so I am not even sure if you could cut the whole ****** off and have room to clamp on any pipe.

Another option is to gut the cat and clamp on the muffler after the flex pipe. With how expensive cats are though, I wouldn't personally be able to justify destroying a good one.

As far as pipe sizes, the pipe right after the cat is 2.25". After the split they are two 2" tubes.

... would there be straights out the back, or are you keeping the stock mufflers on?

Also... you might be hard pressed to fit a muffler under the heat shield.

You can get a flex pipe from Doug at FPS in Atlanta for about $125.00. I installed the flowmaster super 44s. I also installed a magnaflow high flow y pipe. I love the sound and I get compliments all the time. I wish they had more mods for the Gen 3.

My 3rd cat delete with 2 mufflers sounds good. Let me know how loud your setup is when it's running. I don't know if I'd like it any louder for more than a short period of time.

Is that 3rd cat delete with the stock mufflers? I have been wondering how deleting the flex pipe, 3rd cat, and res would sound. I have all the parts to make my delete pipe. I bought a 2.5" ****** and 4 ft of 2.25". Just have to weld the pipe to the ******. Have never heard any sound clips or in person of what that will sound like. I also have magnaflow cat and cold air intake.

So basically I want to know *** a cold air, flex/cat/res delete, magnaflow catted y, and stock mufflers will sound... guess I will know by the end of next week!!! Im keeping all deleted parts intact just in case it makes me ears bleed...

You need to have some sort of flex pipe in there. You can find them for $50 or so usually. Take the 3rd cat and cut the flanges off then weld to the flex pipe. Or just get some new flanges.

Yes. Stock Mufflers. Sounds perfect (to me) extra rumble but not too overpowering. You'll always hear it while driving. I can't imagine having it too much louder but everyone has different tastes.

SO you guys suggest keeping the flex? What size is the pipe from resonator to mufflers?

Well, I made my pipe delete. I never checked the pipe size from resonator to mufflers. But I welded up a 2.5" ****** and almost 5 foot of 2.5" aluminized pipe. Had a 2.25" collector ******, but it seemed a little too small. The 2.5" is just right. I will delete the flex, too. A little worried about deleting the flex due to how much engine/tranny flex there is. Maybe that's the good reason you guys say to keep the flex. Guess we will find out. Sawzall to the rear after the res with an exhaust clamp and it should bolt right up to the y-pipe collector. I am keeping the deleted items intact, just in case I fail MARTA or I hate the sound. Will try to bolt it up this weekend when I lower the struts.

If you want a little better sound for free, then just gut the 3rd cat and leave it in place. Vey easy and FREE!!!

That's not how I do. Flex pipe can't be a temp fix, because that's what came on the car from the factory. The onll reason I was going to delete it, is because my past experience tells me that is the most common failure area on an exhaust system. I don't believe any performance exhaust should have a flex. Just me and my ways, there is no rule that says that anywhere...
