Hurdles along the journey:
A fractured EGR tube was slip sleeved and assembled with un-hardened JB weld so parts would self align before setting up.
Found the cat convertors installed were 49 state - changed out for CA cats
Several codes showing all of which were trackable to vacuum hose issues.
Had to deal with several incompetent & nervous smog shops and was referred to theIMG 20191016 125835 San Diego Smog Referee to validate the two cat installation as correct.
Finally a successful test
Pic old/new cats & test results
Cheers, Retrogreg
PS going to Radwood Orange County Dec 7 with my 'period' tee shirt pls look us up.IMG 20191119 161518 IMG 20191119 163639 IMG 20191123 143207

That is something to celebrate. Most people would throw in the towel when they had to deal with an E-test referee. Great work.

Can you tell us the premium price of the California / New York converters, and where can they be bought separately.

Congratulations !

Thanks & for sure it was Warner Muffler Oceanside - Bret, the owner is very knowledgeabe and I am sure he would love to re-sell a few :) Their phone # 760-433-2240, shop is located at 190 Douglas St, Oceanside CA 92058. I have attached a pic of the installation fyiIMG 20191016 143206

Heh good old PA here. Zero emission tests needed on any car I drive. Just gas cap and a quick visual.

What kind of drain plug is that? I wish the underside of my car looked that clean

I knew they would be expensive, but that still surprises me. But it looks like they rebuilt a lot of the Y-Pipe and they used a nice big converter that they reduced down to the pipe size. The more precious metals, the better.

Nice install, there is not a lot of room to be creative down there, but it looks like they did.

It was in the car when I purchased it but I believe it is an "EZ Drain' of which there are several configuration abling simply a manual actuation avoiding stripped threads and rounder nuts.

Those are awesome smog results. Here are mine from two years ago.
CO2 O2 HC-PPM CO% NO-PPM

max meas max meas max meas

14.9 0.2 77 12 0.5 0.02 537 42 15MPH

14.9 0.2 58 9 0.4 0.01 494 50 25MPH

Notes: Yours are even better, but my SPOUT was not pulled either, and cams are stage II! And the top-grade new-era extra precious metal California approved catalysts I paid through the nose for a few years ago are AWESOME. Not quite clean enough to breathe directly but for a 26 y.o. car, admittedly with a recent (mileage-wise) rebuild, great!
Congrats on your heavy duty troubleshooting skillz to track down all those troubles.

Thanks for your comment & it is very interesting to see your great results too - obvious gr8 design. I am also very happy to have finally have a legal car to drive as it is a joint father/daughter relationship (my money /joint enjoyment) - the saga continues.
In 95 my 92 SHO -same color) came off lease so I gave it to her but doing what young driver's do she neglected to either leave it in gear or apply the parking brake and Mother Nature applied her force of gravity and back down our driveway it went! The steering lock set its course - directly into a tree- see pic .....reset 24 years later &c in comes an identical SHO and we now have a re-set - she was very surprised and delighted and we are both looking forward to Radwood Car Show a week from Sat, Cheers, GregIMG 20190905 181238
