The front hex/allen shaped part before the threaded portion. You hold it still from the front and tighten the nut.

^ now I know what you are talking about but that does not exist on this end link.
edit- i took a closer look at the pic you posted from shosource; my end link looks different than that one. Its just like that but no hex/allen part in front of the threads.
My old ones have that part
