Just like a doctor advising major surgery, it would be in your best interest to get a SECOND OPINION. Since I've never personally heard of a ring failure in a SHO motor, I suspect they are just making it up (polite way to say they are LYING).mygreensho:
well its terminal..just spoke to the dealer...knocking from the piston, they think it lost a ring...they said that the best way to fix it would be to replace the motor..not sure how true that is but i guess its time to search for a cheap used motor

If you need an engine, there's one on eBay now (a 3.2L). Last I saw it was going for $405.
Be careful of the dealer - they tend to make things up (thinking it's a vulcan or something) when they don't know jack about the Yamahammer.
Best of luck!
