Happy New Year Everyone,
I have a quick question for you please. I have my emission testing coming up soon and i was wondering if i should take out my chip for it? I have a 93 ATX with a regular Hypertech Chip in it. But should i take it out for the testing? Will it effect the results?
Thanks,
Joe

well, i would suppose that it depends on the program itself... if the mixture is richened or it affects the sensors in the exhaust system i think you should. however, if your cats are in good working order you should be ok, my car passed last march with flying colours....no chip though.

I have a '94 and failed the first test. Re-ran the next day but with the engine cool instead of hot and passed, barely. What's failing me is the NO level. In general, without a chip anyways, the car run very lean so the next time I go (in 2 years) I will probably disconnect the spout. The car will run richer but the NO will drop. I also think that the testing levels change with the age of the car so I may not have to worry about it the next time.
BTW, my car has brand new cats (Perf+ y-pipe)
