Ebay A/C Compressor: Advice Needed

After doing much research, I'm inclined to replacing my A/C compressor with a remanufactured one. I've searched ebay and found a reman. one w/ clutch for $120 shipped. My question is...should I get this compressor? And...has anyone purchased one from ebay with negative results?

And just for know-how...is there any "simple" way to know if a compressor is still good? I've had one sitting in my garage for over a year and I'm not sure if it's good or not. Thanks in advance for any replies.
