This is the one I use as a guide for mixing, but I also have an ethanol content sensor installed in the car so I know the exact content. It can be anywhere from E70 to E85 at the pumps in my state, so the sensor is good piece of mind.

I use a regular ethanol content sensor ($30) and it plugs into a device from fuel it ($200) that is then read via Bluetooth on an app ($5) on my phone. I would highly recommend it. I literally copied SBS's model from the link below. The only word of caution I would say is that after you fill up, it takes a while 5-15 minutes before the gas mixes properly. I always put E85 in first, then drive across the street to another gas station to put the 93 in. The E content will go up for a few minutes, I've seen as high as mid 40's. I just drive it real easy until it comes back into the 30's.

It is a very noticeable difference from a 93 tune.

That's a great idea, I've been adding 2gal E85 to mine on occasion, but without a sensor it's just really a wild ass guess what you end up with for E content. The first blend might be close, but each time after, without knowing the exact contents of whats left over in the tank I could see things being unpredictable.

That's what led me to the sensor. No clue exactly how many gallons are left in tank, no clue what the existing tank is mixed at, have to test the e85 at each station that you use to see if it is at 70%, 85% or somewhere in between. There are other ways to get an idea of what your content is, but I don't trust myself to be vigilant enough and knowledgeable enough to use those ways.

It's not my idea tho, without SBS's tutorial I wouldn't have even realized that the sensors existed. It's a little pricey, but those kind of mods I try to look at over the life of it. I plan on keeping this car another 100K miles and unless something AWD comparable comes out between now and then, my next car will probably be another SHO and I will just move the sensor over to that one. Ten minutes to remove the sensor and the overall cost will end up being a couple bucks a month to know exactly what is in my tank.

Where exactly does the sensor install and do you have a link for it? The more I’m reading about this E30 stuff the more interested I am getting...

The link is up a few posts, I posted it in a reply. It is the ecoboost performance link to the thread SBS made. All the info you need is in there. The picture of where it mounts is the third picture down. The sensor that reads the E content is right below the fuel line with the blue piece on it. The expensive piece directly to the left of that with the red/orange piece (sold by fuel it) that sends the information from the sensor to either your phone APP via Bluetooth, or directly by a solid wire to a gauge that you would have to buy.

I bought the Bluetooth version so I could just use Bluetooth to connect to my phone.

I waited 4 years of driving my SHO's to try an E30 tune. Don't be like me.

Thanks...totally missed the ecoboost performance link. Was going to get just the regular gear head tune but now I think I’ll get that and an E30 tune

Ya once you buy the regular tune it's only a $50 update to get the E30, or at least that's what it was when I got mine. Best 50 bucks I've spent on the car.
