For the most part, yes.

The stock DP's are incredibly restrictive.

I would recommend PPE downpipes as their catted ones don't throw codes and pass emissions testing. Will cost around $1,000 or less depending on whether you install or hire it done.

I have the Livernois DP's, tune, CAI and t-stat. No issues whatsoever. Go ahead and pull the trigger on it.

I'm going to go for PPE non catted. I don't have to get tested. The only tune adjustment you'll have on DP's is to turn off the O2 sensors. Though I've heard you don't have that problem with PPE catted DPs. I'll save the stock pipes just in case I ever need them.

New years special on PPE downpipes until 1/10/14
PPE's pipes don't throw a code for catted pipes and will pass a readiness check. Many members with Livernois had to have their rear O2 programmed out due to a code and if you are in a state that checks readiness it means you'll fail emissions. PPE are a bit more expensive on the catted side but no issues with emissions and my set stopped the stinky cat smell after going WOT.

I can sell you those as well as I'm a dealer. Catless choose anyone's, catted go ppe so you're good to go for emissions.

Yes, I've tested my stock downpipes with a cutout closed vs open and picked up .2 and 2 mph in the 1/4 mile. When testing before/after the open cutout and the new catted downpipes but down the same exact HP as each other.
The stock downpipes are a HUGE restriction and neck down to almost 1.5" in places.

Hey, I had a question involving installation of the downpipes. I used to have an Evo X, and even though I put an aftermarket downpipe in with only 10000 miles on the odometer, it was a pain to install because the bolts from the ****** to the turbo ended up snapping when trying to remove the stock downpipe. The mechanic said it's a common problem with those cars because of how those bolts heat up and cool down so often. I ended up dropping a load of cash because the turbo had to be taken off of the exhaust manifold, then taken to a machine shop to have the bolts drilled out and the holes tapped. It was a pain in the ass. Is this typically the same kind of problem I'm going to be looking at when doing the installation of the new downpipes for the SHO? I wouldn't mind getting the downpipes, but would hate to have a similar problem that 2 turbos will have to be removed and bolts drilled out of.

I had pipes put on my 2012 SHO at 7500
miles. The guy had no trouble at all with an air wrench. I have to say that my PPE non cat down pipes are of a very high quality. The welds and fitment are perfect, they sound great and my acceleration is much improved. I know that LMS is now using Magnaflow cats like PPE so no more worries on codes and emissions.

Okay cool, thanks. That may be the last mod I get for mine besides the thermostat and possibly the coilovers or springs. Hot pipes would be nice too, but it's just really expensive.
