I have a 89 SHO and the dinger sounds when I open the door..you know the one that tells you that your keys are left in or lights on..is this NORMAL?!?!?!?
Move around the black peice around where you insert the ignition key. Mine does thise also, just have to mess with that a little to get it to stop. I found on mine that if I move it alittle forward and pull it out it stops the dinging.
It's your chime module. I just bought a car that had it disconnected so I plugged it in and the same thing happens as yours, even with the door open, it will go off. Look up under the steering column to the right of the steering wheel and it should be a black module with a tan 10 pin connector. It will have 7 wires and three small holes in it. Just unplug it and trash it!
You can unplug the single black wire with a gray connector on the underside of the steering column (remove the cover from above to pedals to access) to disable the input of the switch to the chime module.
