Hi SHO Forum,

I have been out of the SHO ownership and game for a while since I got rid of my last one a couple years back.
Well I am now looking to pick another one up due to missing having one in the garage to play around and drive.
I have owed two SHO’s and both have had the PP package in them. My question is I am looking all over the place a 500 mile radius from me to pick up a White one with the PP package in it. Turns out that is not as easy as I thought to find with low miles and have that package in it. I have seen more non PP white ones and some really good prices on them with low miles and all. Would not go below a 2016 year also.
Do you honestly think the PP is that important or something I will miss not having? I will do an exhaust and few other minor bolts on as I have with my other ones. Other than that I will be driving it and using it like it was meant to be for the most part.

Thank you in advance for your help or suggestions. If you happen to know of any white ones on the market please let me know also as I am a active and ready buyer not a tire kicker on the right one.

Thank You
Brian

PP, better brake pads if replaced with oem pp pads, better cooling and option to turn off ESC for if you wanna have fun. Only downside really is no spare tire and tranny final drive (worse mpg on highway)

Yea both of my PP ones I had I bought a spare tire to have in the trunk so that never really bothered me. I never drove one without PP in it so was hoping to get a little insight of others have and if it will be really missed as much as I think I may without it.
I guess I am trying to convince myself or maybe call it fool myself lol that it’s ok to settle on a Non PP one. But my gut tells me to stick it out and continue the search for the right White one with PP in it.

Tuned, I dont think there is a difference. I had both. I have a non pp now. Steering feel is different but forscan will let you put the rack tune from a pp in a non pp so that figures that out. Esc switch I kinda miss but pulling the abs fuse is alot more fun as instead of numbing the advance trac is just makes it not work as at a stand still I can leave 4 tire marks. Couldnt do that with my pp with the switch.

Datalog with AJP showed my car has more get up from a stand still then a pp with the esc off. A good bit more he said, maybe one day I'll take it to the strip to see what I get.

I don't have a PP... wait... that came out wrong. :bonk:

What is the difference in the steering you speak of?

I’m always up for waiting for what you really want. However, I wouldn’t pass on a, it’s everything I want except PP. You can install PP brakes when you change them, PP suspension parts when needed, exc. Is the PP an overall better car? Sure. But, I wouldn’t for a second not own one unless. Oh it has better pistons, and a trans cooler, and what I’m convinced is a basically useless PTU cooler. Some PP guys will call it PP envy, but it’s not that at all.

To be honest, the only thing I wish I had on my non PP is the advance track off button. But even that would only be for fun in the snow. I run faster quarter miles with traction control ON.

The electric rack is tuned differently between the two. The non pp is a little easier to steer and more floaty. The pp wheel is heavier on center so it acts better at higher speeds. Its just a tune to it

Thanks for all the advice and input. I guess I will stick to my plan to see if one with PP option pops up in white with the right miles and distance from me then. I am not in a rush for sure to buy one as I have other cars that I drive daily and play around with also.
Just missing my SHO so want to get back in the game of another one as soon as I can if possible. I even talked myself out of going the Explorer Sport route and trying that in place of the SHO.

Being both my others SHO’s were black I was trying to change it up a bit and go white this time.

The PP features enhanced idling capabilities and extreme hot-glued-homeless-guy-underwear steering wheel.

I honestly didn't want to make all the sacrifices to have the PP cooling. Too many creature comforts in the non PP, and my 2015 non PP came with the same suspension and other misc parts as the PP. Overall if I was tracking it or using it for in town driving, I would get the PP... Otherwise nonPP over and over and over.

If you search you will find dozens of threads just like this.

I have noticed there has been more NON PP PTU failures do to not having the useless PTU cooler....

Knew I’d take some heat for that one. I said basically. Ha! When I first learned about it I thought, oh cooled case great idea, and a drain plug bout time! Then I saw the actual design of the cooler. Not that great. I’m sure it helps some, but we both know it’s not the answer to the units problems.

It's all good. With proper maintenance they are good to go. However, most owners don't have a clue unless they are on the boards/FB. We are the exceptions, and it shows.
