I am replacing my whole stock seats, door panels, headliners, and mirror visors with all custom interior. I am replacing my mocha factory leather and cloth seats with a tan colored leather around the outside of the seat and a matching green color up the middle of the seat replacing all the cloth that was there before same with the back seats. I am thinking of getting SHO embroidered into the front headrests too in tan to match the outside of the seats I think the colors will look good together. I am replacing the beige carpeting on the bottom of all four door with a green leather that matches the color of the seats. I am also taking out the factory mocha headliner and replacing it with a slighty lighter color that matches the seats. I am replacing the factory mocha mirror visors with the green leather also. Will have pics posted up as soon as it is finished. I was also wondering how I could possibly paint the black part of the dashboard green. How would I go about doing this does anybody know the propper steps? If so then please tell me so I can start the project soon. Thank you.

You can easlly paint any plastic parts by using a vinyl and plastic dye. Duplacolor makes some decent stuff but the best stuff by far is made by SEM. You can find Duplacolor paint almost anywhere but SEM stuff is limited to a few online retailers (www.eastwoodco.com is a good one) and automotive paint shops. The key to good adheasion on plastic is having the part clean. If its a smooth surface you may want to lightly scuff it up a bit. To clean the parts I like to use Castrol Super Clean followed with clean water. SEM makes a plastic primer but I think that only needed for soft parts. The SEM dye also comes in many more colors and some paintshops can custom mix for an exact match.

Threre are some new plastic paints on the market that are supposed to be great. I had the seats re-covered in marine grade vinyl teo-tone tan and black on my 91+, it looked great. I also had the SHO logo in the seat back.

Sold the car a while back to a guy near Chicago, hope he is a member and could post some pics.

I understand so what would I have to do first? Take out the black part of the dashboard sand it down, then paint it the color I want it?

What black part are you talking about? The part around the gauges, or the dash that is black?!?! Also, where in MA are you? I'm from the springfield area.. I did a mocha colored console, and painted it black with SEM paint, its the best stuff IMO... Just be sure to prep it right, thats all... If by chance you are near the springfield area, I'd enjoy takin a look at your project! :thumb:

I have used both oem spec laquer and vinyl dye. I have also used duplicolor wheel paint for a metallic look on plastic parts, all have turned out fine, and have lasted. Good luck with your customizing, when you get done, post some pics:thumb:

I live in East Boston not too far away from Springfield. The car is still in the shop right now I checked on it today and the seats are fully done but my headrests are getting done now its a pain becuz they need to reinstall my headrest tvs in them. The doors also still need to be done with the carpeting on the door being replaced with the green vinyl. I am also waiting for the visors to come in becuz the original material I had wanted was to thick. So I changed my headliner and visors to the same stock color.

I thought I was the only crazy one to paint my dash board. Once i figure out how to put pics up I will show yall. I used some vinyl diplo spray to paint the dash black. But what I mistakenly did was use the gloss finish for the dash. so anytime I use armor-all toshine it up..it looks verrrrrrrry glossy. almost to shiny. but most ppl that see it never guess the first tiem that I painted it. Guess that means I did a good job.
