Have the under side of your hood be some kind of mirror, and get some neons to put underneigth.... but then the mirror thing would look SOOO cool with chrome

Looks like a clean opening. Have you decided on the type of material for the clear?

You didn't cut your plus hood...

Neat Project, AND...

...you helped increase the value of my plus hood! :thumb:

That's a win-win situation. ;)

Seriously, it looks like a very interesting project. I'd like to see some pix with the clear piece installed once you get them. Are you going to be lighting the engine compartment somehow (for "night" viewing)?

nice job, but, you really do need a beatin' for doing that to a plus hood. what are those things worth, btw?

Why do people care if he did it to a plus hood? The car he got it from was just rotting away at the junkyard anyways so he is at least putting it to good use. He bought the hood so he has the right to do whatever he wants to it. He did a good job on it so why does it matter that he cut it?

Well, since you asked...

...for the SHO enthusiast, the 1991 Plus models are "special" and a much more limited production run. The plus model's plastic "power bulge" hood is coveted by some SHO modders, too as a nice custom touch (with some minor weight savings thrown in). In fact, I have one on my 1991 "pseudo plus". :thumb:

Being plastic, it isn't going to rot away anytime soon, at least not compared to the steel parts which surround it. So, I'm sure that many who want a plus hood who've looked around their own local junk yards are not enthused about seeing one with the middle cut out. :squint:

That said, the clear "hole in the hood" mod doesn't bother me (much ;)). It's a neat idea, and great mods are all about appying your ideas. It's also a good learning experience. Just don't expect everyone here to feel that way. :jpshakeh:

Just my $0.02. :corn:

I like the hood more than the grill... what did you do to that?

You need some sort of mesh in there if youre going to keep it like that, you can see straight to the plastic bumper mount and the radiator, not good looking at all... plus, its major

Interesting Grill Concept...

Hey, Matt...

Can I assume that your idea with the grill was to use the stock piece as a frame for some mesh? Or, were you going to do something else? Please let me know. Please post some pics of the finished grill if you have them, or can get them in the future!

I really dig the idea of leaving the oval/logo in place. :thumb: Very clever, and an idea I just might have to "borrow"! :squint:
