Hello,
This is my first post and I look forward reading all that this forum has to offer.
My SHO is an 89' and as one would expect that with age things will break. Mine has to do with the levers (to control the ductwork or airflow of the heater/defroster) that are hooked to the vacuum solinoid or what ever you call them. Where the plastic lever hooks to the plunger of the vacuum solinoid, on two of mine, the keepers are broken and won't stay hookes together.
Has anyone else experenced this or had to fix this issue? I troubleshot this thru the opening of the glovebox so there isn't a lot of room to work. I think that I'll have to take some of the dash off to fix this. My idea for a repair (If I can get to the broken levers) is to just snip off the faulty tab, drill a wee hole, then put a small screw with a self-locking nut to join the lever and solinoid together. Or, maybe I could use a Soldering Iron and melt a small hole. The issue is getting to the lever.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
