Compressor Replacement

I need a link to a step-by-step on how to replace the A/C compressor, dryer, orifice tube, etc. on my 1990.

Just trying to determine whether to do it myself or not.

I searched here and found tons of information, but nothing with it all in one place.

Any suggestions?

The only place you'll find it all in one place will be in the the service manual.

For the compressor, I found that removing the alternator and the radiator gave me a lot of room to wrestle stuff around. Probably overkill.

As for the liguid and accumulator lines, get the GOOD disconnect tools that you can actually get a grip on and force the tool into the springlock.

Soak the conmnections with PB Blaster a few days ahead of time to loosen the crud.

Most of these connectors will require a twisting while turning motion to get them apart. Keep that in mind.

I have one more question. Since I am only about 5,000 miles away from the 60,000 mile maintainence, would it be a good idea to go ahead and do all the stuff at once?

In other words, will I be removing the same things twice?
