If you're looking for added performance from the CAI, there really isn't any.

MDesign looks best
K&N has most noise change
Airaid & Windstorm a mix of both

Really need tune + 3bar MAP + downpipes + catback to take full advantage of the CAI. I believe there is enough fuel headroom to support.

You are looking at about $2600 new for the parts mentioned, including the CAI. Install, I'd ask you to find a friend or a competent muffler shop to install. Not difficult, but it is time consuming and helps to have lifts/jackstands and good basic tools to do the work right & quickly.

Keep looking around the forums to see if these parts come up for sale, you can get better pricing that way. Here, ecoboostperformanceforum.com, or ecoboostownerforums.com, etc.

Unleashed & LME are the 2 top tuners for the EB right now. LET and a couple of others are also good (AFAIK), but not too many known clients yet.

Running Livernois for year and a half now, I have no issues at all and still get 25 mpg on trips. I have there MyCal, Livernois downpipes, 3bar map, Airaid CAI modded, Dynomax mufflers, 3rd cat delete. I have about $2200 including downpipe install. Livernois and Unleashed are the top tuners right now.

Unleashed and LME are the top 2 TRANSVERSE EB tuners right now. For a truck, LET, 5 star, and a few others are pretty good - to also include Unleashed and LME of course.

I was the first LET tuned SHO and have nothing but great things to say about Erick. There are a few others that I know of out there as well as Flex's now.

Previously, I ran Unleashed tunes and both the customer support and performance were top notch as well.

I haven't run a LME tune, but I think their results speak for themselves. They've pushed the platform beyond where many thought it could go.

Long story short - you can't go wrong with any of the above. Just pick one and get that sucker tuned! You'll thank us later!

Edit: save the money you were going to use for an intake and put it towards a meth kit. The next biggest bang for your buck after a tune, in my opinion.

Are these tunes + cat back + 3 bar.safe for someone that drives around 20k miles a year?

Or are they designed more for the folks that play around on the weekends?

Also I kind of want to get a cat back exhaust first, would this force me to get a tune or would the stock tune adjust itself and run fine?

These tunes (and catback/3bar) are very safe for DDs. The tuners are legitimately concerned with vehicle longevity :) You can have a tune customized for track day, but then you should revert to a DD level tune once done "playing".

Catback does not need a tune or tune update, you should be fine. Now if you add downpipes and CAI, you definitely need a tune for the engine to take full advantage of the new setup. If you are adding a 3 bar MAP, you need a tune as well. Colder TStat, you don't HAVE to have a tune, but then you wouldn't be taking advantage of this mod.

Put 20k on my Livernois tuned SHO last year, ran the most aggressive tune the entire 20k, pretty sure the car is running better today, than when we got it.

Be aware that you need cats somewhere...at least that's how I feel. Too many instances of smoking pipes and blown turbos with no cats.

Corsa, Borla, Magnaflow, Dynomax all offer products for the exhaust system. You can choose to use an XPipe, replace the entire catback, replace just the mufflers, what have you. Then there's always the option of a muffler shop custom creating the catback for you.
