Can all brakes made for the Cobra be adapted to fit the SHO?

If you can use the PBR Cobra calipers on the SHO, can you also use the Wilwood 6 piston Calipers for the Cobra?

Other that redrilling the rotors to the SHO bolt pattern, what exactly do you have to do to adapt the Cobra calipers to the 94/95 SHO spindles?

Or course one needs 17" wheel also.

Yes, if you drill the rotors and have large enough wheels, you can fit just about any Cobra brake kit.

If the calipers used only have the bleeders on one end of the calipers, you'll end up using the "left" caliper on the right side and vice versa because of the location of the knuckle ears.

Well, does anybody have any pics of the modification needed to fit the PBR's to the SHO? I just want to see what it looks like.

Jose no mods are required if you want to run the cobra calipers. They bolt right onto the 94-95 spindles. If you purchase the 2-piece Eradispeed rotors, you can even get them with the correct bolt pattern, no redrilling neccessary. If you just want to run the normal cast rotors, the bolt pattern is the only thing that needs to be modified to get everything to work.

Like Jason said though, you need to put the calipers on the opposite sides to get the bleeders pointing up. The Taurus has the caliper ahead of the axle line, where the mustang mounts it behind the axle line.

I have Cobra's on my 90 SHO. kurtmetros has a page with a list of the 17s that will fit. Not all 17s will fit. If they don't then you will need a spacer which can be bought from local auto part stores. The front tires will sit out just a tad.

You will also need to purchase caliper bolts and banjo bolts from ford. Might as well get you some stainless steel brake lines while you are at it.

Plan on spending alot of time bleeding.

Then becareful of people behind you....you will stop quicker than them.

I'll take pics tomorrow at work and post them on fordbastards.

Tony just finished putting a set on a red 92. Looks great.

I just fond a Cobra kit for $375 with cross drilled roots and pads. Just need to get the rotors redrilled for our bolt pattern.

So, it is a straight install.

The 2 piece Eradispeed rotors are also a Wilwood part?

I just installed 17X8 Team Dynamic PR1.2 wheels. My stock brakes look puny inside. I see that there are several Cobra kits in the Forum with 12 and 13 inch brakes, but I was wondering why not got with the 4 or 6 piston calipers, if they could fit.

I found this webpage for the calipers. Is this a good price?

http://www.magnumforce.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=39&Manufacturer=3&Vendor=3

My front tires are already close to the edge of the fenders. With these brakes they would stick out more?

If his is doable, I wil go for it.

Thanks for the info guys.

If you are planning on tracking the car, I would go with the Wilwood Calipers that will accommodate the 1.25" thick rotor.

When I brought up your last link, it showed rotors and pads for a SHO. You'll want to look up the Cobra parts.

Cobra calipers can be found on ebay for around $250 plus shipping.

IIRC there are 2 types of PBR calipers and one is able to take alot more punishing than the other. I don't know if one goes by the HD designation or what. I remember some of this being discussed here before. You might be able to find good deals on ebay for the calipers. I would recommend ss brake hoses to go with the instal. You will be very pleased with the results of both the upgraded calipers/rotors and the stiffer hoses.

Jose, the price in the classifieds here is really good for the whole setup considering it comes with the pads, rotors, hardware, and shipping too. That gets heavy re: expensive. If I was looking for another setup I'd jump on it. http://shoforum.com/showthread.php?p=432593#post432593

As was stated, you need to find parts using the Cobra as the search criteria and not the SHO. If you look at Taurus parts you will get the wrong sized pads and rotors.

IIRC Eradispeed rotors are Baer products?

I was refering to 6 piston calipers, if the Cobra 2 and 4 pinston calipers fit the SHO, will the 6 piston fit also?

I am sure that it is over **** for the street, but I guess that you can never have too much brakes (as long as they don't weigh too much).

This is what I am talking about:

I have been considering tracking my car to take some driving lessons, but mostly I do carefull, spirited street driving.

Will 6 pistons have more clamping force or just better heat dissipation that the 4 pistons?

I have been searching the internet for the Wilwood 6 piston caliper and the 13 inch cobra rotor. I have not been able to find a price on the rotor.

the 6 piston caliper in the above post sell for $331.60 each. Can this caliper be used for a Cobra application?

2 calipers $660.00

These calipers are $131.00

http://www.magnumforce.com/detail.aspx?ID=1199

These calipers are for a 1.25" thick rotor. Which 13 inch rotor will these two calipers fit?

Wilwood, Eradispeed, generic,...?

What mounting bracket will I need for the SHO, regular Mustang or Cobra specific?

SS brake lines.

Brake pads.

94/95 SHO spindles.

Anything else I am leaving out?

And will either of these 4 or 6 piston calipers fit my applications?

I'm definitely curious about this as well. Jeg's sells a few kits for the '94-03 Mustang GT, so they should theoretically bolt onto our vehicles as well (other than having the discs redrilled).

They have a 6-*** 13" Wilwood kit for $1400. Not sure what the thickness is on that, nor whether you can get the hat machined for the right bolt pattern. Also there is a 4-*** Brembo kit (Cobra R brakes) for $1100... Also, 13".

TCE Performance has 4 and 6 piston Wilwood kits. I belive they are upwards of $1400 for everything. This also includes the modified knuckles needed to bolt the calipers up. I think the six pistons are only a $200 upgrade, which if you're already spending 1400, whats another 200 bones? I'm pretty sure the Willwood calipers TCE uses are the narrow sized ones. If you look somewhere like Summit, they have a normal width, and a narrow width.

*Edit* Lance posted as I was typing, but a friend of mine purchased a set of those '00 Cobra R calipers. They dont fit under the 17" rims he currently has, and he's hoping he can make them work with the 19" rims he should be getting soon. The calipers are just too wide, you could almost fit two fingers between the hat of the rotor, and the wheel.

What calipers are you using? Was your setup a straight drop in? What rotors are you using? Are they redrilled?
