I have an interesting problem. I was driving down the highway in fifth gear with cruse control on. i wanted to speed up so i pushed the clutch in and tried to put it in third. well pushing the clutch turned off cruse, liike it is suposed to, but i couldnt put it into third. Upset, i tried to put it back into fifth. not fifth either. i drove it home about 22 miles by speed shifting with the rpm's.

The clutch pedal was depressed on the highway so i put my foot under it and pulled it up. The pedal worked after that, meaning it moved correctly, although it had about 30% of the resistance it normaly has. i looked under the hood that behind the airbox to see the fork. It moved when the clutch pedal was pressed.

A neighbor thought the cord streached. so i took it off the fork and put a spacer in behind the head of the cable so it would pull the fork farther. I noticed two things. If you pull up on the clutch pedal it will click takeing in slack. If you pull the pedal all the way it will click differently releasing the slack. I got eight clicks out of the clutch pedal and that made it feel really tight. About how it had felt before.

Anyway i started my car and pressed the clutch and it still didnt go into gear with the clutch down. So i turned it off, put it into first, and turned it back on, which turned it on and started rolling... thats how i can drive it.

when driving i cant stop becuase it will stall if in gear or it will grind if i atempt to put it back into first. i got to a hill. and it made a funney noise and would not go over the hill. it seemed like the clutch was pressed a bit, eight may be too many clicks. so i pulled the clutch pedal up with my foot and it fixed it. well it stalled but that meant the clutch was nolonger depressed. i was tring to power start the car into reverse when i realize the clutch pedel now seemed to work, when i pressed the clutch it would roll and dumping it started my car in reverse. I guess i should explain that i did this becuase the battery died.

so driving around town the clutch seems to work now. when i press it the cars rpms will go up, when the gas is also pressed of course. and the car will slow down. as you would expect it to.

So it sounds fine now right? wrong. The car still wont change gears when the clutch is pressed. It is as though all my sincros went out at once.

so now its sitting out side, the battery is dead probobly. and i need it by monday.
Is there a fuse or sensor that all the sincro's go through?

if the sincros are out, would a new clutch fix the problem?

is my cable for the clutch really streached, if so, will it break?

I need help badly.
let me know if you can help.

Strap on your clutch might have broke, it's almost impossible for all syncro's to go at once, in any case if you can't change the clutch your self or if it is a tranny related issue I doubt it being done by monday.Best of luck :thumb:

sounds like your clutch is toast to me. When mine went i couldnt shift into gears at all and it ended up being the clutch disk broke in half.

My green 91 + would not go into first, unless you shut the car off first! When I had taken the tranny out, I found out that 3 of the pressure plate fingers we're broken! That's why it wouldn't shift. Hope this helps. :thumb:

Mine did the same as yours,
I had a seized tob, pp fingers were worn, and one of the inside springs from the disc was not inside the other spring..

The tranny is probably fine unless you keep driving/grinding it.
Sounds kinda like the problem I have.
If you want to get to know your SHO a lot better, (do the work yourself) it'll only cost around $350 in parts to fix.

The tranny can't shift right if the clutch isn't working right.

Ditto on the pressure plate. When you do high RPM downshifts, sometimes even if you rev match the straps on the PP can snap. On a stock PP the straps are puny at best.

Be careful! Those same straps fling around the bell housing with great force and if you're not careful can actually dig into the wet side of the tranny. If it gets through, no clutch kit in the world will fix it.

I just took the tranny out yesterday. It is deffinately all crapped out. I always do all of my own work. The problem is that I don't have any money to replace the tranny.
