This is the fork that sits on top of the transmission and actuates the clutch.
Backround:
The car has been extremly hard to get into gear, and now its almost impossible. You have to start it with the car in gear. Much like a failing pressure plate or TOB. I picked up the car last year, and having only 8K on clutch and transmission i thought it would last longer than this. The clutch is amazingly strong so i dont doubt that it is relativly new. Since day one i always had slight clutch chatter when engaging from a stop. The chatter has gotten worse and worse. I donno if the shop just cut corners and didnt resurface the flywheel, or even replace the TOB or PP for that matter. You would think they would buy the clutch kit as a package deal. Just now as i preparing to pull the tranny (time to see whats wrong).
The problem:
I noticed the the fork has about 1" play back and forth, and 1/4" play up and down. It also seems alot looser than another tranny i have laying around (this tranny also does not have nearly as much play). The clutch cable seemed to be pretty tight when attached, but this looseness makes me wonder if it has anything to do with the hard shifting. What could cause such looseness?
thanks!
*edit* - hey! this is my 1001 post! yay!!! ****
