Hey whats up guys? Well I've decided that the 5th gear grinding must have something to do with my clutch cable. I've done many searches and even flipped through numerous sections of the Service manual and cannot find and other types of adjustment other than lifting the pedal with 10lb's of force to adjust the Pawl. I've done that and still I have to double clutch to not grind while going into 5th gear. I know it sounds crazy but when I go from 4th to 5th gear I push in the clutch to take it out of 4th then release the clutch, then push it back it and bam no grind. It's kinda weird lol. But does anybody have any idea's on how to manually adjust the cable?

Also, when downshifting while coming to a stop I hear an interesting clicking noise coming out of the trans. It's not super loud but it's a clicking comparable to a drive axle that's completely shot just about 1/4 of the noise, any ideas?

Thanks for any advice.

First, change your tranny fluid. Can't hurt, and it's only like $10. I use Mobil 1 ATF and attribute it to many noise vanishings since then.

As far as the grinding into fifth gear, I had the same issue when I first got the car. I got under the car and just sprayed (I think) some lithium grease into the boots of the shifter rod (I didn't notice, do you have a rod shifter/later model SHO?) and all other joints while I was under there, worked it in for 5 minutes and it went away.

This is assuming you only have 5th gear grinding out, as I did.

Best of luck,

Matt

Ya it's a 92. So just hit everything with some lithium grease and it was all good? I just replaced the trans fluid when I did the clutch/throw out bearing/flywheel like 800 miles ago so I know that's all good. But I'm deffinetly going to try that lithium grease. I'll let you know, but thanks for now.
