At least, that what I think I did.

It makes a heavy knocking when under acceleration or deceleration, clutch in it's silent. You can definitely feel it in the shifter. I almost shit my pants at first, because it sounded like a rod bearing when I first noticed it. It went away when I dropped down to 2nd.

So... what are my options? Replace the affected gear? Or replace the transaxle? The gearbox is pretty solid, so if I could salvage it, I'd rather do that than put another MTX-IV out to pasture.

I'd replace the tranny and keep the other one for parts.

I would say get a whole trans as well if you are going to keep the car forever.
Though it would probably be less expensive to just replace the effected gear.....just wouldnt have any spare parts if something else gets messed up.
