Hello to all again,

Has anyone had the check engine light come on after they installed a K&N Cone Filter in place of the stock air box? I followed the V8SHO.com to the "T" and the only mention of a Check Engine Light was if the MAF sensor wasn't reconnected. I have checked it and it is snug. I was about to try the "disconnect the battery" and see if that did anything.

Thanks for any help.

I zip tied it to the negative battery post just like V8SHO.com said too. Check out the following website and see what you think, my setup looks identical to the V8SHO.com setup.

Thanks for your help.

Sam,

This happens with some frequency to later model SHO's when this mod is done. Before you disconnect the battery, I'd be interested in seeing what the code on the PCM is. You can get the code pulled from the computer at any Autozone for free. I think that the 98/99 SHO's are tuned a little tighter than the 96/97's, so it might be the PCM saying, "What the **** is up with all this air?" I'd bet that it's a blanket system lean code or something similar, but I'd like you to see what pulling the code does. Usually the SES light goes away after you reset the PCM ala battery disconnect, which allows the computer to relearn the new values and adjust the fuel pressure to compensate for the improved airflow.

This happened to me when I first put the cone on 2 years ago. Came on twice in 2 weeks. Hasn't come on since.

Like Mike said..if you can get the code pulled at an Autozone.

When I first installed the K&N I had a problem on my 98 throwing a "Bank 1 too rich" code. It wouldn't go away at all, I got fed up with it and removed the cone. Installed it a couple months later and better zip tied the sensor so that the tip of it was laying on the auction cone itself (this requires the zip tie to be extremely tight). Haven't seen it since I did that.

That is exactly the code that I am getting. It's codes 01725 & 0175 which is "Bank 1 & 2 System too rich" The guys at AutoZone said the the Heat Sensor needs to be put into the cone filter somehow? Another guy at Pep Boys told me that I would have to get the computer re-programed.

OzzMan, was there anything else that you tried to see if the SES would go away?

Thanks for all the help.
