Actually I have a similar problem: my check engine light will just come on randomly, stay on, then go off, then come on again later. I've had my car checked out and no problems...

If you have a gen2, you have a 3.0 or a 3.2. There's no 5.0 SHO.
If your CE light is coming on, you have a trouble code. Based on when it's coming on, my guess is a bad O2 sensor(s) but you really need to have the codes scanned first.
