I just put on an intake on my 99 and now my check engine light is on, has anyone encountered this or know why it might have come on. I also got new mufflers put on right before it went on but it came on the next day after i did both of these things, but the car seems to be running fine still. headbang

If you went somewhere and they read the code they could tell you what is wrong. Many places do this for free.

On OBD-II that will not reset the computer, the code will still be stored and if the problem is still there the light will come back on. If it does take it to Autozone or Advance Auto and they will read your codes for free!

Whenever you do an intake mod or any mod to a sho I'm told you should reset your computer especially if it's an air intake mod. The computer just needs to relearn and get used to the new and improved airflow.

I reset my PCM at least once a week. Found out the car runs faster on the OEM base programming.

If you pull the battery cable off it will erase any and all PCM codes and wipe out the data tables of learned data.

I have not gotten any codes from messing with my intake except the times I left the MAF or IAT unplugged. Or the time the MAF fell off.... headbang

Some folks with the 98 and 99 SHO's get sporatic CE lights from doing the open cone filter installation. The problem doesn't seem to manifest itself with the 96's and 97's.

Disconnecting the battery will clear the CE light until the problem returns, if it does. It will also allow the car to "learn" new table parameters with the new intake... but like Paul said, these cars seem to run best on the stock programming.
