So my check engine light came on. I took it to auto zone to run a check on the computer & this code pops up P0018
Crankshaft position sensor. The part is fairly in expensive. So the question is has anyone installed one of these on the SHO? If so any tips on where it’s located at & it’s removal? Is there a bigger concern here?

I have gotten under it to see if I can see a sensor close to the crank but I don’t see anything. Any tips would be appreciated.

I had the same code, and apparently Ford saw an O2 sensor code that I never saw. Turned out to be an issue with a wire harness. Apparently some of the wires had melted together and were shorting out. I say this in case replacement of the sensor does not fix your issue.

I couldn’t access any of the links. Removal of the turbo LH? Is that the one closest to the cabin?

Correct that is the firewall/cabin side of the engine bay. References are typically based on looking straight at the belts with the engine banks on either side. So LH would be the bank on the left, RH the bank on the right.

The links only work if you have the FSM online, sorry.

Might be an easier way to do it? People always find a workaround to the factory way of doing things, so ... :)

I wonder how critical this step is?

I assume this is done to set a baseline for the new CKS, and is thus a necessary step. Might be possible with Forscan, but IDK.
