I was running the codes today because my check engine light will flash around 60 mph but the car seems to run fine. I was thinking maybe bad O2's after reading some posts, but it was freezing outside and I decided I'll check again another day. The one code I did notice though was #636 Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) sensor out of range and #637 TOT sensor is/was high or open. Any suggestions on a fix for this?

Thanks

there was actually a post not too long ago on this, the sensor is waaaaay up inside the tranny, and youll have to have it out of the car to get to it as far as i understood. good luck man. time to think about a rebuild maybe?

Rickl.

Check and clean the connection to the TOT sensor. Its connection location makes it susceptable to corrosion. Clear the codes and recheck them. rangerj

And make sure that the temp is warmer before jumping to any sensor-related conclusions.

An outside temp of 50F would be a good idea.

It'll be a while before it hits 50 degrees here, it was about 10 yesterday when I checked. The car seems to shift fine, it only has a little over 80K on it and I bought it from the original owned who used it as a family car so I know it wasn't beat on. He also gave me every paper from the day of delivery and every receipt from that day on. It seems that it was pretty well taken care of from what I can see.

The sensor may be on its way out, which will eventually lead to trany failure since the TOT sensor regulates EPC pressure and TCC lockup. Until the temperature outside is above 50F, you might want to drive the car very gently when cold, or let it warm up first rather than going 60 while it's still cold.
