Anybody done this? The book has a lot of strange instructions, not sure how it all works. I have the new one already, just need to take out the old one and install it.

im not quite sure, but look under the colomn shroud, there should be a small hole, just inserts a awl or similar tool into this hole to release the key cylinder and it should pull right out.

Pretty easy job.

Disconnect negative battery cable...the ignition needs to be set to "run" for removal and there is an excellent chance of creating a pretty good short if you don't shut off the juice.

Philips head screwderiver for the four screws holding the bottom of the steering column shroud on, remove cover...be careful to not just yank it though because there is a fifth small screw connecting the top piece to the bottom on the key side right where the column meets the dash...remove that screw and take off the lower shroud.

Put your ignition key in and turn it to "run".

At the base of the key cylinder on the bottom you will see a small hole with a silver pin sticking out...take a phillips head or a torx bit or something similar and push it up into the key cylinder while pulling out on the ignition...it should come right out with a bit of coaxing.

Installation is basically the reverse. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes till your car is running and you're putting your tools away.

Thanks, tdoyle. Just as you said; I shouldn't have read the book, just do it. Worked like a charm.
