I've got a 92 MTX, black ,with the console that has the flip up arm rest and the sliding door under the stereo.

I like the look for the 93 and up console's for a MTX and wonder how to get one... of course in black.

I'm thinking of adding a carbon fiber look to the console too, and want to have one to play with.

I did the swap from my 91+ to a console from a 94. I really like it, you have to drill some new holes for the piece under the main dash. But it isn't to bad. Plus the new console is about 6lbs lighter (like adding 1 hp)
I do know it is hard to find the newer console in black so good luck!

I have a '90 and I like my console. It's not the smoothest-looking one I've ever seen, but it works. And it has cupholders.

that 6 lbs = 1hp is crap, dropping weight doesnt add ponies. let me just clear that up right off. the car might go .00001 seconds faster because of the 6 pounds, but the horsepower stays the same.

Next, go to a Junkyard and pull the console out of a wrecked SHO. paint it black, and your done.

If ya tinker a 94 console is lighter, try no console AT ALL!

It should work, btw. I love the Gen I Console.. It really puts the look to them esp. when you have a rod shifter. Decent height to the shifter & the look of a Sporty SHO! And when ya remove it, it resembles the Star Ship Enterprise!! <G> Ahh, call me immature if you want... I do lik the feature of cup holders that actually WORK, although I keep my CD holders in there... and misc. nuts & bolts from the car.. heheh.. And lets not forget the cupholders in the dash for the JBL-less people.

I wouldn't bother with an SHO's console..any floor mounted Shifter will work. To my knowledge as long as you have the Rod shifter any of the consoles will work.

"that 6 lbs = 1hp is crap, dropping weight doesnt add ponies. let me just clear that up right off."
your rite, you have to drop about 12-15 lbs to gain 1hp.
That's why I said it is like adding 1 hp...not that it is adding 1 hp, just like putting on any sticker is worth 5hp.
And dropping wgt does make the car go faster, just ck out drivinhard's litewgt '89

If you're talking about the pop-out cupholders under the radio, I have those as well as the JBL system. Maybe my car is just a freak.

I think you took that a little too seriously. All you do is increase your hp/weight ratio. If you have more hp per poumd, you go faster, do you not? Right, you do.

FYI-after 93 they didn't offer a black interior on any SHO.

HEHEH! Well do ya have the CD Player under the radio? I believe that's what replaces them on, now I figure, SOME JBL units... But anyhow, I'm glad you have two of those rather useless cup holders, too!!!
