Use the search feature. It will give you better results thumbs_u and not make members mad  at you for having to respond to the same kinds of posts over and over again. I recently wondered the same about my 91+. I searched and found most people like either Redline or GM Synchromesh. I am going to go with the GM Synchromesh when I get a chance.

I have read many posts on the subject... (did not use the "search" per se...) but I haven't seen anyone mention Castrol Type F.

I know this topic has been "abused", but... does a gen.1 have the option of using Type F OR Mercon III?

I believe the issues are with model year '89 only...

I have an '89, but the trans was rebuilt so it's all good. :D

I'm running Castrol ATX Type F in my tranny (89) and noticed nothing, but I'm in need of new blocking rings and some synchros. :D I'll drop it soon and replace them and put my new Castrol back in. Honestly thought since I put my clutch in and new Castrol fluid, it seems as if my 3,4, and 5 gears are harder to engage (rings), but my 1-2 assembly (synchros & rings) are bad and seem the same and 1st is acting up more then before too. Will see the results though after my rings are installed and 1-2 synchro assembly.
