This is an old list so no idea who there has experience or if they even are still working there--can be said for most places unless it's a small family shop with teh owner turning wrenches & welding cams (other than FPS in GA since Doug is a known person to the community). You can try the facebook group for follow up or the v8 mailing list if it's still running to get confirmation about TX shops. Most of the old model of cars owners have moved on, so hard to get feedback on area specific questions.

Well he said he didn’t feel comfortable welding the cams bc he can clean the surface to lay a weld.

yeah I just talked to him and he explained it to me, he informed me he didnt feel comfortable doing it...sorry buddy!

That list is 14 years old! It also recently came up in a Facebook post.
Only people I know doing them now are Doug Lewis in Georgia, and Eric Lehmann in the Chicago area. And if you're in New England, you might convince Kirk to do another.
Experienced welders can do it. Experienced Gen 3 people who weld can do better, and check for other things.

I just called he is no longer working there but his grand daughter is familiar with what he used to do. They do have a welder there he is on lunch he will get back to me when rhe welder gets back

How about Texas Tony? Don't know if he ever did them, or if he still has his shop?
I didn’t know it would be this hard to get someone to weld these cams either they are not doing it or they are scared to do it

Totally understand the fear of the unknown especially when you factor-in accountability for performing the job. I know that it's not an overly difficult task for a welder. I'm not sure of the availability of people to actually do the job where you are located, but have you thought about removing the CAM's or purchasing a separate set and shipping them to someone to weld?

You have friends with access to welding equip? If it were me, I would take it to Doug but I understand if that is too far. My plan B would be contact Kirk and see if he's still doing transport and coming close to your area anytime in the next few months and bribe him to come through and weld a one off.
Shipping them isn't the worst idea I ever heard either. There used to be some pretty detailed posts of the welding procedure. Not sure if they are archived on this forum or if it was written and submitted to the v8sho.com website. If you have a good welder with a good write up, and read up on some of the 'look out for' issues it should be ok.

The Wop Shop in Houston can do it! I have a friend/builder that had his coyote cams welded there so I know they are comfortable do it.

Remember that Ford used this process on millions of their modular engines. Only the V8 SHO had the problem AFAIK.
