Hello everyone, I have an 89 MTX that recently died. I believed it was the fuel pump however after replacing the pump I found it still didn’t turn the pump on. This leads me to believe it the CCRM that has failed. One problem. I am unable to find a replacement. I do not want a used one, SHOsource is on back order for M-codes and the only parts store in my college town is incapable of acquiring anything. I was told to contact Ford and see if they can hook me up. I just wanted to double check with y’all to see if a D-code, J-code or any other module available on the SHOsource would be a suitable replacement or if Ford really is my best option. Thank you for your help.

Get a used one.

You can fix your old one by installing new coils, but that is a challenge. There are posts on this site that detail the procedure and identify the coils.

Often, you can tap on the old CCRM and help the coil function.

Give yours several good whacks with the handle of a large screwdriver. If one of the relays is stuck that will usually free it up. I had it happen one time and it never happened again after that.

Otherwise, finding a good used one is the way to go. The letter must match what you have.

On the post that I read about tapping on them, said it was a temporary fix. But I will give that a shot. I also found a well priced one from O-Reilly’s website but it still doesn’t specify with model it is for but with cross referencing it comes up.

I do not wish to disrespect anyone’s suggestions. My friend from O-Reilly’s found a new one for a price that I am unable to match. I’m going to smack mine and see if it has any life left and may or may not replace it or just return the one from O-Reilly’s. Unless since I will have it, if I should test out the new part? Have you checked the codes at all? You should, even if the Check Engine light hasn't come on as very few of the codes light it up.

This may be a dumb question but - Have you checked that the inertial safety switch in the trunk did not pop? For example if the trunk was full of stuff and you hit a particularly bad RR crossing or *** hole it could have been knocked as hard as it would be in an actual wreck. On Gen 2 it is in the trunk on the left behind the side panel, reach through the little flap and press down on the reset button. Don't know where it is on a Gen 1.

This! ^^^ Definitely worth a look. Allows the starter to turn but the fuel pump doesn't. Always worth a (mean) yuk yuk at SHO group meetings, you slap the fender in just the right place and then the car won't start.
I had an autocross run on a bumpy lot where a little 4x4x2 block of wood that I used under my jack had been left in the trunk. Went over bump, the block saw its opportunity for glory and flew across the trunk impacting the crash sensor. Engine immediately cut off, the other racers thought I'd blown the engine. I pulled off, guessed right - I must have been subconsciously hearing the block rattle around - popped the trunk, reached in, reset the switch, then drove off the course embarrassed. Never have left anything in the trunk again in any car I was racing.

I did check it, it’s not the problem, not to mention it was running parked and suddenly shut off. I have now replaced the pump and ccrm. Still no sound from pump. I am currently getting ~2v to my fuel pump. 9v at my little black wire coming off the battery terminal. Ce light is dim. I checked the connectors around the ccrm as well. But otherwise I’m at a lost.

Engine. No start

89 sho parked 6 mod now no start. Sprayed carb cleaner into intake engine runs. No sound from fuel pump. Checked voltage at inertia switch 6.8v. Checked voltage at fuel pump same 6.8v. Jumped 12v direct to fuel pump and checked pressure at engine was 40psi. Engine still no start with 40psi...

You haven't said that you have tried to pull your codes.
This should ALWAYS be done FIRST even if you have no CEL light.

This should ALWAYS be done FIRST even if you have no CEL

I’ve had the battery out, and I assumed that there wouldn’t be codes.

Correct, unfortunately. You should get 12V at the inertia switch and the black wire. And the CEL is faint. Check the battery voltage.
