I had the SEL come on. Took the car over to a shop and has them pull the codes one was in long term memory secondary plate assuator(fixed long ago never removed the code) and the second was the cam sensor. needless to say I had the codes cleared and got a new sensor need less to say I got the SEL before I got the new sensor installed and went back to clear the code and double check to see if any thing else popped up.

The only thing that showed was the cam so we cleared it. On the way home GUESS WHAT SEL!! The engine has never farted or done anything untword.

Is there anything else that could be throwing that code.

BY the way a 96 welded with a 183k on the odo.

OK that helps a little. Checked the cam position indacator (just to make sure) still on tight. Now for the wireing, one wire good ground but the other is a compleat open. From what I was reading there should be 1.5v with the switch on. Where is it routed and through what conectors any fuses (that would be handy)

Has anyone else had this bugabo

SPARK CHASING SUCKS!!!

Should be less than 5 ohms between the signal return (ground terminal on the plug) and pin 85 Dark Blue/Orange at the PCM.

And Less than 1V with the key on and engine off between pin 85 and ground.

The bottom row is the top when looking at it in the car.

97 pcm pinout

And the fix is. The inslation broke off the two wires by the sensor plug under the sheathing and the 2 wires touched. Cleaned everything off seperated the wires erased the code and presto chango no code!!:):thumb:

Man one happy camper
