1213N is the proper National part number for the cam seals

if the brand PRONTO follows the same number convention as National, that would be the correct seal, being that i have no experience nor have i heard of PRONTO i couldn't tell you whether or not you are looking at the correct one.

The OEM (exact) replacement is the Fel-Pro TCS45870 seal set with all three seals. The National 1413N is a fitting (pun intended) substitute.

scott,

are you 100% sure on the 1413N part number, because as of page 152 of the BCA/National application guide teh 3.0L/3.2L DOHC V6 calls for a total of four of part number 1213N

Yes. I have held them in my hands and verified they are the same seal. I had both the Fel-Pro set and three of the National 1413N seals to make sure I had the right parts to do the job on my own engine last Christmas. The seals that I removed from the engine were Fel-Pro seals, but the National 1413N is the same size and will fit. I did not find the 1213N as the National number in any of the parts cross references that I checked.

Advance Auto Parts is where I just bought my cam seals from. The mfg part # show 1213N, is this correct before I put them on. And my crankshaft seal I got from Ford has grease already. Do I need to grease the cam seals 1213N?

Thanks, Mike shrug headbang

I stand corrected. After rechecking the sources for the National camshaft seals, I have found that the part number is indeed 1213N. They are the correct part. I am sorry. Please forgive my error. I have corrected my parts list.

On a side note, when I installed the Fel-Pro seal set on drdave's SHO, we found that the seals in the Fel-Pro box were made by National and did not resemble the Fel-Pro OEM seals. They still fit and sealed, but they were a National product packaged and sold in a Fel-Pro wrapper.

You should apply a silicone grease (preferred) or motor oil to the inner wear surface of the camshaft seal before installation. The instructions that accompanied the Fel-Pro seal set also advised to use RTV (Permatex Ultra Gray for my installs) around the outer diameter to help seal the rubber.
