I see them parked and driving all the time, but all I have is tennspeed.net and my biz cards. Maybe I'll get a few shoforum cards next time and see how they do.

Keep me in the loop.

I've been around for a long time and I can tell you some of the pitfalls of trying to organize a KY/TN club. It seems that none of the cities in any of the 2 states have a large enough SHO poplulation to sustain a club, so we must try and get membership statewide. TN/KY are such long states distance becomes a handycap. It's a 8 hour drive from Kingsport, TN to Memphis, TN and even a 5 hour drive from Pikeville, KY to Glasgow, KY. The group that tried and organize before would advertize a meeting without much notice, normally in the Nashville area (i.e. lets get together next weekend). I would suggest that we try and meet in a "centeralized location" with plenty of lead time.

i was figuring set a sertine weekend (i.e. second weekend of the month or somthin to that extent) then have the entire club agree on a city to meet at.........then ocasionally move the location for those who cant make the drive.........

but i think the only way this will work is if EVERYONE in the club helps out massivlly on picking were we want to meet times and what not.......

then to help spread the word advertise in our local newspapers, internet, and let everyone around us know..........possiablly get windsheild decals or somthin to advertise while were on the road........and allow anyone to join as long as they know a little about the SHO and not just owners.........

this is just my thinking......i could be wrong but i feel this would be our best course of action.........but i need everyone else input and advice......

i got ahold of BIZZY and hers what she said

"How many members do you have so far? I'd like to see a few people already involved and if possible a club website. Sometimes that's not always possible, but it does show committment. I also would need a club name.

Other than that, it's not too hard to get things set up. It would take me a few days to get to, but it certainly can be done.

I also need to know who's in charge and who would be the moderator(s) (max of 2 people) in the section."

this is for her to promote the club here on forums.........so anyone who is seriously interested in doing this get ahold of me so we can try to get this thing rolling

eather pm me on here or email me at [email protected] so i can get numbers to her and we can start figuring out everything.........

i feel we would be better off with 2 moderators to so if anyone wants to hep out with that aspect aswell let me know asap

What all would I need to do to moderate? Most of my day I'm siting in front of the computer at work so internet access and monitering will not be a problem. As far as a name if we can get some more Tn members what about T.K.SHO (I watch way too much boxing)

BTW I'm in.

 roster is filling up nicelly makes 4 members.............. i cant really say the exact definition of a moderator but Beth said we was allowed 2 max..........so im gonna say just someone who helps organize things and helps take care of teh website and what not.......

my thinking was order a .com address after we all decide on a name.........then all of us chip in a little to help pay for it..........(will need to look into this more and check on prices) enless we can run our site through a free web site.............

then i was thinking we all get windshield banners (or back window banner).........with the clubs name and website on it.............all of us chip in for one and c if we can get a deal from somewere since we will be needing atleast 5 if everyone is ok with that idea.........

but this is all just my thinking i need everyone elses help to figure out all the detials and what not

i will be getting ahold of Beth tonite tho to c how many members we need for her to sponsor us......

I looked into starting a Ky club about five years back. If you are willing to put forth the effort, I'll happily lend hand. Here are a few knowns I will go ahead and pass along:

1) It is going to be a tremendous amount of work to make a mildly successful club.

2) Both the population density and median wage of Ky and Tn stifled initial sales of the SHO in the area.

3) Both Ky and Tn are dump states for wholesalers, so the numbers of SHO's in the region has grown slightly in the past 12 years, but we are still significantly eclipsed by areas like Michigan's LP. Last tri-state meet I attended had about 30 SHO's, IIRC, and it wasn't their big annual meet.

4) Northern Ky is a hard sell for centralized meets due to the proximity of other clubs, so the meets must be worth attending. Most of the SHO's in Ky are in northern Ky due to Louisville and Lexington metros.

If this has not already been done, I would suggest we start active threads on all known Taurus and SHO sites, to run for a two-week period. We need to locate all online enthusiasts, both active and partially active. Someone should collect email addresses so we can start messaging directly until a permanent forum is in place.

Whatever you do, don't be disheartened. It's fall, halloween is right around the corner, the turkey is not far away, and many of us are busy with familial responsibilites that pre-empt certain "expendable" activities, like reading up on the forums.

Five.

sounds good to me with that in mind we need to find all of the sites and start trying to recruit..........

aside from that im honestly surprised we have as many as we do already so quick........maybe this will make it past just a far fetched idea in a few of our heads....

That would be fine with me, I'll let the others know and I'll get back to you to confirm the weekend.

That's about a 3 hour drive for me ... just let me know which weekend, I'm normally tied down every other weekend.
