Hey guys. When I was doing my suspension upgrade a few months ago I ended up snapping the bolt head off of the pinch bolt on the left rear strut and I ended up going with a knuckle/hub assembly I got out of a junk yard. Upon reassembling everything I managed to end up with the brake caliper on that left rear assembly locking up. I noticed the caliper would only lock onto the strut when the parking brake line was attached to that caliper. This is also a brand new caliper, bear in mind. But for example, if I were to connect the parking brake cable to the linkage on the caliper there would be no problems... but the first time I depress and release the parking brake pedal the caliper would keep a heavy grip on the rotor. I thought my left rear parking brake cable wasn't letting enough slack on the linkage, so after fumbling with the parking brake cable adjuster and getting no good results I went to NAPA and got a new parking brake cable for that side.

Well after the installation I still had the same problems, so I just left the cable out of the linkage on the caliper and didn't use my emergency brake for the past few weeks of driving the car. I did notice that the caliper bracket slider pins were frozen on that particular caliper bracket, so I plan on ordering a new bracket tomorrow to see if for some reason this isn't what is causing the caliper to lock up when the parking brake is used. And If I do recall correctly I think that the first time I took the car out for a drive after removing the cable out of the linkage on that the caliper that's giving me trouble the caliper was still hanging up. It doesn't seem to be hanging up at all at the moment though, but besides those bad slider pins I don't know what else could be the issue. What does it sound like to you guys?

And I had taken the car out for a few 10+ mile test drives after playing with the thing and in one incident the caliper was hanging up soo bad that the rim and brake assembly was scorching hot almost and the smell of the pad/rotor material was so awful that I had to pull into a parking lot, jack the car up, and remove the brake cable back off the caliper. Now this is a dumb question, but in the event that my rotor and/or pads are glazed how would I know? I have the brake assembly all apart right now and the rotor looks a little glazed, but I'm not sure if that's just until the pads scrape away at the rotor some more once I get everything working fine. Am I better off just replacing the rotor and/or pads, or what?

I would like to thank you all in advance for any help you can give me on this!
