I was driving yesterday and it sounded like i had a bad left front strut because it was making that awfull anoying sound when you go over bumps, so i ignore it. So i go on the highway and i go to use the brakes and i get this awfull grinding metal sound and pulsing in the pedal. So i get in stop and go traffic and you just hear the metal to metal grinding even worse. So i get home and take off my wheel to find out that the whole top of my rotor is all nice and shinny from something grinding on it, not the side top but the top top so i look at the inside of my wheel and their r marks on the inside to all the way around. So i look at my caliper and the bottom bolt fell out. The inside of my caliper has two 3/16" depth marks in my caliper. I'm luck i made it home, and of course no parts store, hardware store, or ford dealer had it so we went to a junkyard to get it. Moral of the story use that blue liquid lock tight when working with bolts. Now the more messed up thing is it happened to my friends SHO the same thing but it happened to his right rear but his caliper bracket was rubbing on the wheel and made a hole throught the rim and had to buy a new rim today.

Whoa, that sucks. Luckily, I bought new ford bolts with LocTite already on them.

It also pays to use a torque wrench when installing any bolting on the car. The front brake caliper pins should be tightened to 18-25 lb-ft.

yesterday my dad i installed a set of rear rotors and rear pads. the driver's side was a bitch. we tried to use an air gun to take some of the bolts off so we could get the rotor off needless to say it didn't work so we broke out the heat. apparently rust caused by new england winters is a great alternative to loc tight wink
