you'd want a 225/55/16 if you want a best all around tire. Stock size is 215/60/16. As for the Bridgestone potenza RE730, they are an excellent all season tire, and provide exceptional performance handling. The SP5000's are great also, but I sont' believe the tread has much to offer if you plan to drive in the winter. For a tire to have excellent winter traction, you'll want straight up and down tread lines, and many sipes. (the little "slices" cut perpendicular across the tire).

I have Potenza RE730's on my slicers. 225/55/16 will fit with no problem. It is the biggest size that can fit on a SHO rim. They are the best tires I have ever had on the SHO. thumbs_u They are not the cheapest tire but when you work for Bridgestone, you can get quite a discount. :D

$118 each through Tire Rack. When I bought my first set they were only $109 each. They must be popular, eh?

Folks remember two things; the RE730 are not M&S rated so they are not A/S and don't work well in the snow, while the SP5000 are rated M&S and can work year round, but probably not in very deep snow. They are both excellent tire choices. You just have to ask your self two questions; do you drive your SHO in a snowy winter and if so, do you have a seperate set of winter rims/tire?

The tires sizes that will work on the 6.0" wide slicers are 215/60-16 (stock) 225/55-16 (plus zero) and some like to run the 225/50-16 which are shorter and offer a better gearing effect.

Guys, wouldn't the 225/55R16 turn faster than the stock size 215/60R16?
For example:
Bridgestone Potenza 730: Rev./mile = 814
Dunlop SP5000's: Rev./mile = 799

On a 1000 mile trip, the tires will turn 15,000 more times with the 225/55R16 size than the 215/60R16 size which equals more fuel, and more wear and tear on the hub and bearings. Now I know I am getting to much into it, but for the people who do a lot of long distance driving, I would suggest going with the stock size. wink

The 225/55 are only 1/4" smaller in diamter, unloaded than the 215/60. I found the the speedo and mileage to be more acturate with the 225/55 than the 215/60. Go figure.

I had 730's on my Integra, lasted approximately 28K of commuter miles-(104 miles/day)-which isn't bad for a Z tire. Awesome dry/rain response (when there is sufficient tread), poor in snow however. I'm trying Potenza S-03's now on my Sentra. The SHO's got 950's on them-they are good for general purpose, but have a soft sidewall IMO (225/55/60-slicer). I had them a total of three days on a track in NH and rubbed the edges of the tires down to the 'P' in Potenza. They didn't stick too well but then again it was October.
