Ok, I went out to my car today and found coolant underneath. Then the "Low Coolant" light came on when I started her up.

I had this problem last winter and it ended up being the plastic side tanks on the radiator. The dealership said that it would cost almost as much to take it out and recrimp the side tanks as it would to just replace the radiator. So they replaced it under my Extended Warranty (which I still have on my car).

Sooo, my question is...should I just get the radiator replaced with a new OEM radiator under my warranty (and not pay anything since it was done last year)? I thought I saw something online last year about an all-brass radiator for the SHO. Has anyone else seen something like this before? It talked about how the radiators on the SHOs seem to get leaks in the plastic tanks every winter and how their radiator solved that problem. I would LOVE to get this one instead of the stock Ford one which will probably leak on me next winter. Can anyone help me out? Please?? Thanks.

Not all stock metal/plastic Ford radiators leak each winter. If you can get Ford to replace it on their dime, why spend your own money?

Hey Scott. Well, what I was thinking about doing was talking to my warranty company and convincing them to get this other radiator instead of an OEM one. or maybe talking to the shop and get them to do it and then bill my warranty company. it looks like the all copper radiator is actually CHEAPER than the OEM one (except for that one on eBay). but yeah, that's what i was going to do...not pay for it all myself.

quick question...i heard that copper corrodes? is this true? if so, would a copper radiator be a bad idea? thanks.

That radiator isn't a one for one replacment, slight mounting changes have to be done as I understand it.

prosuspension.com is reliable. James L. or 'Nook'(owner/opperator) has been on the SHOtimes list for quite a while, I believe he drives a Gen I.

on my 95 my first radiator lasted about 50k, which was then replaced by my local dealer for about $400, and that one was replaced 11,000 miles later under its own 12k warranty

the last unit put in there was a Modine unit, which is a huge company, and at 92k - no more radiator problems

both radiators that broke, had problems with the plastic caps
