I'm trying to get my harmonic balancer off my 95 ATX but don't know what the thread size is of the two holes in the balancer. Does anyone know? I'm tired of running to the hardware store to get new bolts. The latest ones I have are 8mm x 1.25 pitch which fit but get tight real quick, could be the rust or wrong bolts. TIA

For the harmonic balancer you need M8 1.25.

where I work we have a kit to measure sizes on bolts/holes. It also threads bolts/holes. this is something I would deffinetly recomend investing on. that will definetly help on these kind of situations.

I got lucky that the balancer puller kit rented from AutoZone had the right size bolts included.

Maybe rent one for 15 bucks..

Your SHO (for once) is kind enough to supply you with the two bolts that you need (if it's a MTX). The two longest bolts for your timing belt cover fit perfectly in the harmonic balancer. Just make sure that you seat them in there properly (that there is thread coming out the back side of the balancer) . If you don't, you will strip both the bolt and the balancer.

Good luck!

Sorry, didn't see the ATX part. Well at least one of your bolts will fit in. Use it as a guide to purchase the other one. Only one trip to the hardware store...
