The worst thing about Honda cars is their owners! Much like mustang and camaro owners. A tastefully worked on Civic/accord/prelude/whatever can look nice and run well, but for every one of them, there are 100 ricer specials.

hmmm....So I must be one **** of a Douche, considering I own a Mustang AND Camaro?

er, since this thread has gotten so off topic already, i'll comment. as much as i love the SHO, i'd never claim it to be the baddest V6 of all time. definitely top ten, and very possibly in the top 5, but not at the top.

I deal with blind loyalty from the Honda crowd ever Saturday. They don't even know what a CTS-V is because anything besides a Honda sucks. Oh, all modified Diesel trucks suck too.

It's really kinda sad how misinformed they really are.

I consider my self a true car guy. If it wasn't for the Yamaha engine sitting in my Taurus, I certainly wouldn't own it. Everything FORD on it has taken huge ***** and it's cost a LOT of money to get it to where it is today. I've replaced the trans with a better one, the clutch with a better one, the sturts with better ones, etc. The brakes are still stock and suck large amounts of........well, you get the idea. I sat in a 20 year old Toyota the other day and guess what? The A/C worked and had been since it was NEW!! My Ford, not so much. But, I still love the damn thing.

Honda has some of the best gearboxes out there. Go drive an S2000 or even a Civic Si and tell me you didn't fall in love! Their rev happy motors sound GREAT with a nice intake and exhaust. And if you own an SHO, you really can't say anything about VTEC. Sounds like what our cars do at 4K!!

Friend of mine has a Del-Sol SI with a 1.6L 4cyl in it. It makes 170hp!!

It's not just Honda, almost every car maker I can think of has a vehicle that I can respect and appreciate.

I'll never say I WON'T own this or that. I want a driving experience and I want a car with personality. Just so happens, I have an SHO.

Any motor that revs to the moon can have those HP numbers. Ferrari gets 570 out of a 4.6. But the torque suffers, as does drivability. Having driven a Civic SI, I can say that you have nothing until about 5500rpm. Why would I want to wind a car that high all the time?

But as for reliability, you take care of any car, it'll take care of you.

PS: My sister's 02 Civic just blew a head gasket. I'm also seeing more and more imports on the side of the road. Ford? Not so much.

It doesn't matter which side of the fence you're on, blind loyalty is dumb.

Honda does make awesome gearboxes, they're definitely the leader or one of the leaders here, nobody that have driven one of their manual cars can deny this.
I don't care for their 4 cylinder engines, but their V6s are really good in that they're extremely refine, silky, and rev happy. People might not like how they look or the crowd associated with the brand, but their drivetrains are usually excellent.

And like you, I'm a car enthusiast, not a brand enthusiast. If Honda makes a product that best suits my needs, I wouldn't hesitate in buying it (and I did!).

I will say that I'm not brand loyal either. But for the price point, who has the best cars out there right now? I can tell you this, I don't see it at a Honda dealership.

You seem to be forgetting that the SHO isn't a torque happy monster either Sean.

Depends on your price point and what category of cars you want. Your situation is so broad that it's impossible to nail it down to a single brand.

Plus I'd rather spend 5% more on a superior car that I'll be living with for ~5 years than cheap out and get an inferior product.

I know, but I don't have to rev it to the moon to get anything out of it. While revving high is fun, it's not something I want to do all the time.

That's my point. Just saying the Honda brand has nothing that screams "buy me" right now, and well, hasn't in many many years. Acura when it went to the "power grill" completely made me lose interest in the brand.

I don't have to rev my TL (which I adore, I love it far more than I expected) to the moon either. ;) In fact it feels faster than my SHO from 1000rpm to 3500rpm.

But the second part you're right, their current lineup is quite lame. The only car I don't mind is the V6 TSX, but that doesn't come in a manual.

I drove a Civic Si as a demo for a week and never had a problem with TQ. It's like driving my SHO! How is it OK to rev the SHO to 7K but you don't want to wind an Si to 8K?? I don't get it.

As for Honda V6's, awesome motors. The Accord 2-door V6 is a beast!

Oh man, one of my favorite cars:dribble:

I drove around a 2006 TL-S 6-speed for a few days and fell in LOVE!! Had an after market intake and man, highway pulls were SO much fun!!

That's a car I'd love to own.

Damn Hondas................

Thanks!

They never made a 2006 Type S, those are 2007 and 2008s only. The last gen TLs aren't the fastest things out there nor is it perfect (rattles! :squint:), but IMHO it's the best overall entry level luxury/sporty sedan of the last few years as a DD.

It must have been a 2007. It's been about 7 months since I drove it.

Forgot the year, but I'll NEVER forget the drive.:dribble:

I took it to see my friend and told him that this was as close to a new SHO that I could find.

It had a manual trans (AWESOME SHIFTER!!), handled well, had all the creature comforts, gobs of power, ect.

I'd take one over an actual new SHO.

not until somehow, using BOTH cars at the same time, you pull out into traffic, do a burn out, loose control, and smash head long into oncoming traffic

like THIS GUY but more amazing
