How do I unstick the Blend door for the heat?

Most of the time, it is stuck on full HOT, but sometimes I can get it to go COOL, but then I get alot of clicking noises from behind the dash....

How can I fix this?

Again, this is for the '89.
Thanks,

Jason, did you switch to the 91 dash and EATC? If so, there is a diagnostic you can run on the eatc to tell you what's going on. The full writeup is on shotimes. Hope that helps!

I had no heat in my 90 for over a year and no one could figure it out so i finally had a guy i work with pull the dash because i was fed up with it. There was one of those 6 1/2 inch crack lighters jammed in the blend door. Needed new actuator because it killed itself tryin to open. Got charged $280 at the jack williams that i work at.

If it's the automatic crap, pull it all out and install the manual controls from a junker.

If it's a manual system, you need to see why the blend door doesn't move when you move the ****.

You didn't specify what type system you have....but it sounds like an auto system.

Otherwise, a new blend door motor is in your future.

Yes, it is the auto climate control. Sometimes, I get a loud clacking noise from behind the control panel, like the door is trying to open or close, but it can't.

How hard is it to change over the controls, from the auto to a manual setup?

Thanks,
Jason

Gee and I was wondering how hard it is to switch from manual to automatic climate controls in my 89! Guess I'll just stick with the tried and true.

hey!!!

i get that clicking sound too, it sounds like the vents or doors or whatever are opening and closing, but nothing comes out. I can only get air (hot or cold) blowing from the top of the dash (windshield defroster). I want it blowing directly @ me in this COLD weather. Whats the problem?!

I could be way off with this one.....but it seems to me that I remember Snowwind doin' that when his Blower Motor Controller went south...I think it clicked and then when you would turn of the ETAC it would wheez and then finally got to where all it would do is "snort", kinda sounded like a horse snorting..I laughed about it at the time, and all I could get was the vent and floor I think. IIRC eek! from 4 years ago. His controls are automatic, but I will say the Blend Door has never been touched, so look at something simple first, not the deep-in-dash/firewall stuff, only as the last resort wink .
