Some do better than others, but with a 3.0l MTX, anywhere between 18-30mpg

14-30... filled up my last tank of "spirited driving.." Got 14.3 mpg.. :) my worst ever... many stoplights, a lot of idling at them, plus a few off-ramp events, a few ricers, and I ended up with 14.. :)

Normal city is 22ish for me.. right at 30 highway.

which Gen SHO is the best daily driver, in terms of comfort and reliability.
Based on these qualities, you are really looking at a v6 Camry, or 6 speed Maxima SE. The most endearing qualities of the SHO are just not comfort oriented. That is why most sheeple buy Camrys. Not to say you are in the sheeple category.;)

Never driven a Gen 3 so my opinion might be a little biased. I like the way my Gen 2 rides and drives it's smooth get's decent MPG when not being beaten a little. The seats are great never gotten any backaches or sore butt either. Plus I'm 6' 5" tall so there are not many cars that I can drive that are comfortable for me. The same goes with all vehicles it's only as reliable as the owner makes it, maintenace is crucial to any car. You slack on that and yes it's gonna leave you stranded somewhere, take care of it on the other hand it will be reliable.

Gen 3 is in a class by itself as a 'live in DD', IMO.

So much more car than the older V6 types. Not saying the V6 SHO's are bad, just saying the V8's are way more refined for use as a DD.

My 94 atx was alot funner to drive but it was not very reliable, always fixing something.
My 97 is much more comfy and smooth. It's been very reliable, a cam weld-degasser tank and 2 struts in 30k miles since i've owned it.

Owned my '95 atx almost 3 years. Car has 95k miles on it. After the last couple owners neglect, the car needed the usual maintenance. Out of necessity it's my daily driver. Been a tuff winter, but the car has been nothing but reliable. As for any machine, maintenance is the key.

Don't know where else to post this. Thought I'd ask in everyones opinon which Gen SHO is the best daily driver, in terms of comfort and reliability. I use to think the 2nd my self. But the Gen 3 ones are really starting to grow on me.

A running one!:salute:

Been using my 99 as a DD for 3 1/2 years now. I've replaced 2 coil packs, welded the cams, flushed the transmission, alignment, all brake components (which probably only needed caliper brackets), and tires. That is all. Damn good car.

Ok, I've changed the oil a few times too in the 40k miles.

Been driving my Gen3 for around 6 years as a daily driver, only big issue I have had was the tranny rebuild. I get 28 mpg on the highway btw, but gas mileage was not the reason I wanted the car. I have always liked SHO's since they first started making them, they had this mystique about them, I guess because I just didn't see alot of them. Anyway, the Gen3 is very comfortable, it is fast enough, and as stated before, the V8 sounds great when you get on it, especially with a gutted 3rd cat.

Yea I drive a Gen 2 as a daily driver, and modified my Gen 3. I kinda think I should have done it the other way around. I dont care as much about speed as I do handling. And out of the box the over weight Gen 3 feels alot better in corners. Throw some springs and bump up the rear swaybar and its amazing the difference. My Gen 2 I rebuilt the entire suspension in one shot. Aluminum SF bushings 24mm front and 26mm rear. And it felt better, but not as good as my Gen3. Maybe when I throw a Gen3 subframe in my Gen2 it will make it feel better. But basically im for Gen3 all the way.and I get high 20's gas mileage on the highway on both cars.

Once the transmission and cams get addressed, the SHO has been more reliable than my old green gl!
