Before I go any further, here's what it looked like before today:

I worked on the battery in the trunk today. I am VERY pleased with the results now. Allow me to explain what I did differently.

I decided to scoot the battery box away from the corner a bit so that it was resting between that bunker on the side and the spare tire compartment. I was able to screw the strap holders down on flat trunk floor and was also able to screw the two L-Bolts through the flat floor as well. As a bonus, the battery box is now covering up the hole where the duct tape was, and I was able to use that hole to run the straps through the carpet.

Here you can see what it's like sealed. You can see one L-Bolt coming up from under the car.

Here's a shot from under my right muffler. You can see towards the left there's a pink washer and a wing nut; if you go directly right from there, you can barely make out the second L-Bolt washer and nut.

Here's the battery hold down that I purchased to go with the L-Bolts. I had to cut out a section in each to allow the box lid to snap into place.

Here is one of the two little vents on the cover of the box. I didn't notice these before when I was considering venting the box with a tube; now I don't think that will be necessary.

I guess the main benefit would be to allow more space under the hood for intake mods, or supercharger perhaps?

Don't forget weight distribution

True.......but these are FWD cars. They need weight up front to help with traction. :bonk:

Now, making room for some sort of FI I can understand. :thumb:

BTW, nice clean install. Looks great. :salute:

2 gauge through the passenger door sills. Don't want to go prying up the carpet for pics, though.

True, but most Gen 3s have a very difficult time spinning the tires from a stop, especially with anything stickier than the stock rubber.

I'd be more interested in the benefits from improved weight distribution and extended battery life since the battery won't be sitting 1" from the engine block.

Plus definitely much more room for future power adders! :thumb:

Why is it that these cars won't spin the wheels? The only time I can get this car to really squeal the tires is when I am entering my garage, going from rough concrete to smooth concrete. I figured it was because of the tires I run, BF Goodrich Traction T/A's, they are all about grip!!!!

... and some weight off the front also helps take some of the push out when you corner.
