Check Engine Light
Any one with any experience with this situation?
Check engine light comes on when car is driven hard (aggressive exceleration or driving over a mountain pass)
I can't get the (engine off-key on) codes to scan into the scanner. So with the M.I.L. (manual indicator light) method, I get some jiberous codes and then get codes 17, 43 and 65 to repeat.
17 - idle rpm low with ISC off
43 - HEGO lean at wide open throttle
65 -never went into closed loop fuel control
I'm thinking all three of these are related to the HEGO (heated o2 sensor) I replaced the o2 sensor about 3,500 miles ago and it's been acting this way about a 1000 miles into the new sensor installation. Maybe I got a bad one? I've been told that with a bad o2 sensor, the computer runs the fuel loop in a 'limp' mode. Maybe that's what driving codes 17 and 65?
If anybody has run into this situation, I'd appreciate it if you could respond with what solved your problem. I'm replacing the o2 sensor and am hoping that will solve the issue. I purchased the car with this problem pre-existing, so I'm unsure of the past history with the o2 sensor.
Thanks
