Just purchased a '95 sho w/ 5 speed.

The engine will bog down about 90% of the time on acceleration at anything beyond 1/3rd throttle. It will pick up and break loose of the lull at around 5500rpm most of the time. It is only when loaded, revs freely when not in gear. Hot or cold, doesn't matter.

The Fuel pump and filter are new. I currently do not have a pressure gauge, so haven't been able to check the fuel pressure.

Unfortunately, the fella I bought the car from had put a ridiulous cone filter on the factory tubing (still under the hood, not in the well) And there is not place for the air temp sensor(?) , I couldn't imagine that this would cause a problem this bad though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg Fuller

No place for the air temp sensor?? Are you talking about the MAF?

Molly

edit: BTW, my car is doing something similar, only it eventually picks back up to full power after it has been running for 6 or 7 minutes. So far it looks like my cats are shot/clogged (I am replacing the y-pipe this week). Just something to check out. I found out by pulling my O2 sensors and discovering that they were jammed with peices of catalytic converter!

No, the MAF is in place and working properly. There is a small sensor that is hanging looks like it should go in a bung in the factory airbox. has an exposed needle suspended in a small frame, Looks like an air temp sensor to me.

that would be your air temp sensor, all right....are you getting a CE light? How do your plugs and wires look? Got oil in the plug wells?

Now, mine does that when I have my chip put in....the chip makes everything run rich as ****. Another thing to look at.....is it a stock MAF? IIRC, an 80mm MAF on a stock SHO will cause all sorts of issues....

No check engine light.
The plugs, wires are all in good shape, no fouling, no oil pools in the plug well. I haven't checked the parts to see if they are stock yet. will do.

I just took a short trip to the bank, and it appears that it didn't bog for the first time when I took off from a light. it was a HUGE difference. So, I guess the bogging is quite severe.

And another note, I guess it was never breaking free over any RPM.

Check the codes, could be a vac leak, dirty maf, bad O2 sensors, clogged cats. Bad plugs (If someone put a ricer intake on it, they might have tried to put new plugs in there too.)
