dragracing:atco, englishtown, other places

or just a meet at a random place: suggestions???

My vote would be Drag racing(@ atco) on a sunday; my dad and I got SIX runs in less than an hour and an half.

I'll be willing to hit the drags a few times in 2007. I like Cecil County since it is the closest for me (Also a good place to get a lot of runs in an evening). If a group wants to hit up Atco or Englishtown, I could swing it. I might could do me some auto-x, too.

if there is any auto crosses close by i think we would be best suited to go to one of those but either way as long as its a drag or autocross im content.

Man if we had a meet at or near a drag strip that would be killer. Im definitely up for something. If we had a meet near a strip we could always drive up to it.

Drag racing is much worse on the car than auto-x. Launching at the strip has the reputation of snapping good halfshafts and blowing diffs. The auto-x will only break worn out parts. The twisties is all about being smooth, yet fast. I find that the faster you try to go in the drags, the closer you get to having your car towed home.

i dont know area91 gets away with it haha.
he also told me he broke like 6 axels but hey thats the price you pay. well unless you pay the $800 for custom 600hp axels.

its fine by me, if we go to the strip just dont push ******* spinning tires if your stock diff.

You should ask him how many axles he has broken at the track. ;) It doesn't matter, though. Whatever event I am participating in, I will do it 100%. I've got a bit of a competitive nature like that.

I've never been to 75-80 but folks in the know steered us to use Mason-Dixon Dragway for the 2002 Convention. From what I understand Mason-Dixon is a better track, has better management, etc. It is also very picturesque and has some incredible twisties nearby.

They have a decent All-Ford show during the summer that we could arrange for a meet. If memory serves me, I think this was in August.

Years ago we used to get a respectable turnout for this event. Technically you can drag and show, but you must pay attention to the announcements if you intend to actually compete. Kirk and some others were running but never heard the announcement for eliminations. I suppose you have to debate sitting with the SHO brethren v sitting with the drag brethren.

And of course there is the requesite debauchery at dinner and whatever hotel we take over for the weekend.
